Back to Work

I am sorry I have not been responding to as many posts as I would like. I have been preparing and then going to NYC for my regular weekly trip to work. The trip went well and i have to say it was better than I anticipated. The weather certainly didn’t hurt – and I truly enjoyed the trip.

The doctor appointment on Monday was a bit of an anti climax – as he only did a “visual” on the exterior area ( I had told him to be careful as I am still in a bit of pain when going to the bathroom). We also set up my appointment for my Scope with Anesthesia for the end of April.

I have to find out when my PET is – I think mid April. So it looks like April will be full of info – all good I am praying.

Still loving my vegan + fish diet!

Jessicafk11, Rainy like this.

You sound upbeat and that’s the way to be! Celebrate every day!

Hope all goes well sweetie

Hi Leanne—
It sounds like you are doing quite well and I’m so glad your first trip went well with no problems. Things will get easier as time goes on, so you have much to look forward to. I wish you continued healing!

Martha

So happy to hear things went well on your trip and congratulations on all your recent progress.

You sound great ! Glad all was good with recent visit to doc !

Leanne,
This sounds wonderful. So happy to hear you’re back at work and “working” at normal. We’re sending positive thoughts for the end of April.

Hi Leanne:

Yeah! So glad you were able to enjoy your trip to NYC. It must feel great to resume a big part of your former life.

xoxoxo

In like a Lamb

As I sit here on this beautiful day – I am so thankful to be feeling so much better. The low blood counts have improved and I do not have the fear that I will not get better.

This week I tried yoga for the first time and I love it. I am not good – and cannot get any of the poses correct – or the breathing the even way it should be. But – I have started!

The studio I went to is just lovely – 2nd floor of an old building with big windows that face south – and beautiful hardwood floors. It was so peaceful. The best part is that once you learn the poses you can just do it on your own. I travel for work and needed a way to keep up with it while away. It will probably take me a few months to learn the proper positioning – and build up my stamina to actually do all of the poses – but once I am in the zone – I will be able to proceed by myself – going in for classes to upkeep and finesse.

I have my follow-up appointment with my colorectal surgeon on Monday. I am a bit scared for two reasons. The first – because it will probably hurt. I still have a bit of pain down there.
The second reason – is worse – as I am afraid of what he will tell me. I do feel very positive about things – but am wary.

The next day – I go back to work in NYC. Will be staying overnight – and will try to take it easy and remember the requirements of this new Leanne.

Don’t get up at 4:30 Am. 5:30 or 6 should be OK - Check
Eat a good breakfast before leaving the house – Check
Healthy snacks + water on hand – Check
Toiletries in purse – Check
Have Lunch on time – Check
Bring Green tea, agave, and Almond Milk for tea – check
Leave work at 5 (this is really new for me as I usually stayed till 7:30) – check
Have dinner by 5:30 – 6 – check
Be comfortably settled at my sisters place by 6:30. – check

Next day – same – but leave work at 2 to take the 2 hour trip home in the daylight!

Yes – it is possible.
Hope you are enjoying your day!

It is possible! I hope that things go well both at your appointment and with work.

Yoga is great, I can’t wait to get back to my regular class. Take your time with the poses and ask for modifications if needed. My teacher knows each of our limitations (for instance, I have knee and some shoulder issues) so she is good about suggesting alternatives if something does not feel right. You’ll be surprised how one day you’ll find that it all just feels natural. The program at the Y I’m doing for cancer survivors incorporates yoga into the last 30 minutes of the 90 minute program and it is one of my favorite parts, it can be so relaxing and calming.

I wish you well on your trip and your doctor’s appt Monday. I’m sure the news will be good. My doctor had to use her pinky at my first exam because I was still so sore but it was great when I heard her say, “I don’t feel any sign of the tumor”.

Mari

Hi Leanne—
I’m so glad you are doing the yoga. I have never tried it, but I think it will be very good for your energy level and flexibility, which can suffer some because of the radiation. I hope you enjoy it. As for your first follow-up appt., I can relate to the anxiety. I, too, thought it was going to be quite painful and I dreaded getting anything other than the best of news. In my case, the exam wasn’t bad at all (my colorectal doctor seems to be extra gentle) and she told me that it looked like a “normal” healing anal canal after radiation treatment. I hope you will have the same good experience. It sounds like you have your work routine down to an exact science—just be prepared to make a tweak whenever necessary and you’ll do fine. I wish you all the very best and hope you’ll keep us posted as you continue on your healing journey. Take care.

Martha

Glad to hear that your yoga class went so well. It sounds like you have found a good teacher.

I too started Yoga after my treatment. Go twice a week. It certainly has improved my posture and on the evenings i go I always sleep throughthe night instead of the norm since this all started of waking between two & four am trying to make sence of this all. At least now i get two full nights. Take care & keep fighting Annabelle
